The miraculous icon of Taxiarchis was painted in the monastery of Taxiarchon in Mandamado, Lesbos, between the 100th and 110th centuries by a novice monk named Gabriel. Taxiarchis miraculously saved the monastery twice from raids by Saracen pirates, while his icon is preserved to this day, preserving its original vitality and performing many miracles.
